Happy first day of summer!

lucky #13...

Thirteen years ago today, two twenty five year old kids took the plunge to join in a marriage together. We didn't know what was in store for us but we made it work through thick and thin. You are my best friend, my confidant when things are tough. My shoulder to cry on when I'm frustrated. A person to share jokes with and laugh at out of the blue. A person to be goofy around and yet, doesn't judge me and mostly either encourages or joins in. Giver of nightly back rubs and my constant worrier if things are not going ok for me.
Some things people take for granted but I have to say, that I found a true gem. Ethan and I are so fortunate to have found a person so caring to be in our lives that would do anything for us. So this post goes to you Jeff. Wishing us many more fun filled nights and adventures that lay ahead. We would not want anyone beside us other than you! Happy lucky 13 and beyond...

we love summer....

The summer months have finally arrived and we are taking full advantage of those lovely sunny days. Plus, it helps that we live within walking distance to a 7-11 since slurpees are definitely a summer staple.

They sell these great straws now there so of course Ethan wanted a moustache. 

We also let our cat Olive get out and enjoy the outdoors this past weekend as well. She's an indoor cat but longs for her legs on the grass and is an avid bug catcher. Now we have a way for her to enjoy both worlds. 

Unfortunately though I am sick with a summer cold so hopefully it passes fast so I can go out and enjoy the sun. Go summer!

lucky thirteen....

Jeff and I were able to take a long weekend away to celebrate our thirteenth wedding anniversary, or as we refer to it as the 'lucky 13'. We took a four hour car ride over to Oregon to do a little wine tasting in the Willamette Valley.

We had an incredible time staying at the Alison Inn and Spa and had some great tastings, the views were not that bad as well.

We are back from a great long extended weekend with sand in our hair and clothes smelling like a camp fire.

Some friends of ours invited us to crash with them for the weekend at a beach cottage in Sea Brook, WA. It was a lovely getaway away from the city life to a much slower pace. Well, staying with a six year old nothing is really slow but we all feel a little more relaxed which is funny because we rented a house called 'Otterly Relaxed', go figure.

I just returned from a long week in NYC. It is definitely the place that never sleeps and full of people that start dinner after 8 but I still enjoyed it. Luckily it was sans kid and for work so I was able to enjoy those late evenings out. I think I actually ate my way through New York this past week and have the smaller pants to prove it. Diet is starting today!

I went down a few days early before the work week kicked in and was able to take in a few museums, see a few celebrities (Katie Holmes at Shake Shack and the guy from Catfish in Times Square) and do a little shopping. Unfortunately, all of the shopping was for Ethan and Jeff. Why does that always happen when I go on trips without them?

talk with the animals, walk with the animals...

Spent a perfect Sunday afternoon visiting the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. The weather was looking a little iffy but the sunshine decided to pull through. 

The animals were out today in all of their glory and of course the cotton candy and face painting helped put a smile on every bodies faces as well.
