we love long weekends...

Back to work after a long weekend but thank goodness it was a relaxing one. We were originally supposed to go up to Bellingham for Ski to Sea but because of the bridge collapse we stayed close to home this holiday. The weather also decided not to cooperate so we went to a movie, a friends birthday party, and did a little shopping and cooking. It was just the kind of weekend that we needed.

^^Nectarine and blueberry home made cobbler, new driftwood star wall decoration, and Poppies from TJ's.^^

white picket fences...

Well not technically a white picket fence but close enough. When we bought our house last year Jeff and I made a deal that we would fence in our side yard. It is now finally complete. Yeah!!!

a bite out of the big apple...

I've just returned from a week long work trip from New York. This would be my fourth trip to the city and I am finally feeling like I am able to navigate around and not get lost which is a big deal for me.

Most of the time was spent in hotel conference rooms but for the times I was able to go out I truly enjoyed the city. I ended up staying in a hotel in Times Square so I was around a bunch of the action but we were able to get out for some great meals a couple of times in the East Village. The two restaurants that I got to try were Palma and ACME. Both were very good and yet very different. On our way to ACME we were also able to catch a live taping of Sesame Street (Ethan was so jealous).

On my final day the weather decided to cooperate and I was able to walk to Central Park. There was a free concert going on in the middle of the park and lucky for me, there was a cafe right by so I ate my meal while listening to some great music. A perfect end to a New York adventure.
