happy st. patrick's day...

Ethan came home from school on Friday super excited about the awaited visit of the Leprechaun. I had no clue that this was even a thing on St. Patrick's day so I had to think of something fast. He had heard that on the eve of St. Patrick's day that the leprechaun comes to your house and plays tricks on you so that you will not venture out and search for his gold.

Yesterday evening we put together a leprechaun trap consisting of a shoe box (since leprechaun's are supposedly very tiny) colored in rainbows and Ethan threw in his piggy bank to sweeten the deal. We put a cellophane window on it so that we could look in to see if we caught him in the morning.

While Ethan slept the leprechaun got into all sorts of trouble spreading rainbow balloons in our living room, placing shamrocks on our windows, messing up our trap, and leaving some candy gold for Ethan as a treat since he was happy I made corned beef for dinner in the crock pot.

Unfortunately we didn't catch him but there is always next year...
